Not long ago I was weeding out my book collection, and brought a load down to the lobby area for my neighbors. Someone else had beaten me to it, and when I reached the bottom of the stairs lo and behold there were piles of books strewn about. One of the books was a book on Bikram Yoga and I grabbed it. I had been thinking of taking a course after asking a friend how he kept in such great shape. Of course, reading it was nothing like doing it!! However I am now starting to find it useful, after doing it everyday. It’s interesting that book crossed my path, just as I signed up for my very first class. Coincidence? I think not.
Class was good today, full of little triumphs. I was feeling lively and put effort in to all of the poses. I was able to keep my arms up for the entire Half Moon sequence, which is a first. And I’m feeling the progress with my back bending Half Moon Pose – slowly getting there. I think there must be a block in my lower back. Camel was still tough for me, and keeping my endurance for the last series of the standing poses was challenging. However, I am able to stay engaged through 90% of the poses now!
The room seemed hot hot hotter, perhaps due to the warmer weather outside? I’ve been trying to remember what the instructor said today during Savasana, or Corpse Pose. Did I mention this is my favorite pose? I also like the quick Savasana after spinal stretching – feels so good to rest on my stomach! Back to what was said…I wanted to remember so badly…but it’s escaping me at the moment. Today is a challenge for my memory. And I need to get better at remembering names of the instructors! I forget a lot of things in that hot room. All in good time.
